New Delhi,India -Indo Asian News Service/The Hindustan Times -October 07, 2007: -- A speeding Blueline bus mowed down seven people in New Delhi on Sunday in the worst such disaster blamed on the "killer" fleet, sparking mob fury that halted all traffic on the highway to Agra and forced the police to fire tear gas. The dead included five women, a child and a man... Eight others, including some who were crossing the road, were injured when the bus ran into a crowd while trying to overtake a stationary Delhi Transport Corp (DTC) bus from the wrong side at Aali Goan, near Badarpur... * Delhi Govt announces compensation for Blueline victims
New Delhi,India -Press Trust Of India/The Hindustan Times -October 11, 2007: -- Delhi government on Sunday announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the next of the kin of those mowed down by a speeding Blueline bus in the Capital... Announcing the compensation for families of seven persons killed in the accident, Transport Minister Harun Yusuf said those injured will be provided free treatment...

* Delhi Govt to phase out Blueline buses by Nov 15
New Delhi,India -Press Trust Of India/The Hindustan Times -October 11, 2007: -- The Delhi government on Thursday informed the High Court that it will place before it the scheme for phasing out Blueline buses from the city roads by November 15... Appearing for the city government, Counsel Mukta Gupta admitted before the bench of Justices Mukul Mudgal and Reva Khetrapal that about 826 buses were running with tempered speed governors between the period from January 1 to October 9 this year... She also admitted that the government has challaned nine buses for over-speeding and 25 drivers were prosecuted for drunken driving...
