Bus crashes up * Casnada - But officials say system still safe
Burnaby,British Columbia, Canada -Burnaby Newsleader, by Jeff Nagel -Oct 05 2007: -- The number of accidents involving transit buses across the region is up more than 20 per cent since 2003 and the number of preventable collisions rose 43 per cent... But officials at Coast Mountain Bus Co. and the union representing its drivers say the new statistics don’t mean there’s a safety crisis aboard the bus system... Coast Mountain spokesman Doug McDonald notes transit service is also up significantly over the same period so more collisions aren’t unexpected...
