* UK - On-street bus ticket machine plan
Edinburgh,UK -BBC News -9 Oct 2006: -- Lothian Buses is set to have an application for Edinburgh's first on-street ticket machine approved by planners... The city's largest bus operator has filed the application for a site next to an existing bus stand to the north side of Leopold Place... Sheffield,England,UK -The Sheffield Today -13 Oct 2006: -- A Sheffield MP has urged the government to "get it right" when it announces moves to overhaul the way bus services are run... Attercliffe MP Clive Betts said ministers should listen to local transport bosses and not to the bus operators, who he accused of being interested in just profits... He spoke out in the House of Commons during a debate about bus services after the Government revealed it will make changes to end the "free for all" on services outside London...

Edinburgh,Scotland,UK -The Scotsman -13 Oct 206: -- He told Transport Minister Gillian Merron in a special Westminster debate on bus services that the company showed what could by achieved by a council-run operation... Mr Lazarowicz said: "I am fortunate to represent a constituency that is served by the largest remaining municipally-owned bus operator in the UK, Lothian Buses, which provides an excellent service to customers and the wider community."... He said changes to transport regulations should allow other local authorities to develop community-owned bus operators...
