*UK - Stagecoach in £11m drive to boost budget bus fleet
Scotland,UK -The Scotsman, by VICTORIA THOMSON -9 Oct 2006: -- Transport group Stagecoach has unveiled an £11 million investment to buy a fleet of 45 new coaches for its budget megabus.com operation... The Perth company said the state-of-the-art Volvo and Plaxton vehicles will be 15 metres in length, making them the longest coaches on UK roads... Each bus will be able to carry 63 people and will be fitted with air conditioning, toilets and a lift for passengers in wheelchairs...

* USA - District wants new transportation center for buses and expects to add 40 more buses
Salem,Oregon,USA -The Statesman Journal, by TRACY LOEW -Oct 9, 2006: -- Salem-Keizer School District staffers want to spend $3.8 million to buy 26 acres in southeast Salem for a new bus-transportation center... The district has about 240 buses and expects to add 40 more during the next five years...

* Canada - Additional buses on the way for GVRD
VANCOUVER,BC,CAN -CKNW(AM980) -Oct, 10, 2006: -- Good news for commuters, as more buses and improved ones take to Lower Mainland streets... Today marks the transfer of 74 million dollars of federal gas tax money for the Lower Mainland, to replace aging buses and to add additional ones for a total of 225 new vehicles... BC Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon wishes the feds would also cough up some of the GST collected on the fuel tax...

* Canada - Gas tax funds new routes, buses for Sudbury transit
Sudbury,ON,Canada -NorthernLife.ca -Oct 13, 2006: -- Thanks to funding from gasoline taxes, Greater Sudbury's transit system is getting $2.75 million to help the system expand its services... According to Courtemanche, the gas tax money means increased bus routes, more frequent trips and seven brand new buses which he said would be on the road this month...
