Shuttle Program - USA - City may expand buses despite funding loss
Annapolis,MD,USA -Annapolis Capital, by NICOLE YOUNG -20 July 2006: -- As Annapolis braces for a loss of nearly $1 million in transportation funding, it's looking to cope by expanding its free downtown shuttle program citywide... Despite escalating fuel and maintenance costs - the price of gas alone has increased 69 percent since last year - the shuttle between the parking lots at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and the Historic District and state government buildings is the only Annapolis Transit route that's self sustaining... Mayor Ellen O. Moyer said the city wouldn't have to put much money into expanding it citywide as a supplement for federally funded bus routes, instead relying on its share of parking fees at the stadium...
