Public Transport - India - Cities keen on Delhi Metro model
NEW DELHI,India -The Gulf Times (Doha,Qatar) -22 July, 2006: -- Spurred by the success of Delhi Metro and in a bid to ease nightmarish traffic congestions, major cities across the country have asked the Delhi Metro Corp (DMRC) to put in place a similar transport system for them... DMRC chief E Sreedharan, said his organisation has been approached by Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi for metro networks, he said. Kolkata, the first Indian city to have a metro line, has asked DMRC to draw up plans for new lines. It is already working on the Bangalore and Mumbai projects...
