Tamil Nadu will get 2,000 new buses, says Transport Minister
Tamil Nadu,Chennai,India -The Hindu, by Sandhya Soman -27 June 2006: -- 300 new buses to replace old MTC buses -- Authorities yet to decide the type of buses to buy -- The State Government is going full throttle to replace old buses in transport corporations... The Minister said that Tamil Nadu would get 2,000 new buses, of which 300 would replace Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses that have long outrun their eight-year life span... MTC, which received 90 buses in the financial year 2005-06, has nearly 800 vehicles over eight to 12 years old in its 2,773-strong-fleet... (Photo, by K.V.
