Strike - Italy - Buses, Trams, and Tubes stop for 8 hours

Rome,Italy -AGI S.p.A -Apr 26, 2006: -- Buses, trams and tubes will strike for 8 hours. It is the national strike of all the local transport companies' workers called by Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti unions... The strike follows the four-hours strike called on March 6. A unions' note says the strike was called to support the renovation of the economic biennium of the contract (2006-2007). The requests, due to the trend of inflation and the necessity to protect workers' incomes, ask a 6 pct revaluation of wages (around 111 euro). Employer's associations, Asstra and Anav have replied that the local transport companies have economic difficulties due to the lack of resources for that sector and said they were not ready to continue the negotiation...
