Cutting rush-hour traffic - USA - Vote yes for buses
Salem,OR,USA -Salem Statesman Journal, by Marcus Berlin -Apr 24, 2006: -- Do you like driving in rush-hour traffic? I don't, so I'm voting yes for the Salem-Keizer Transit District's Measure 24-155. Studies have shown that buses reduce rush-hour gridlock... Transportation engineers design roadways for rush-hour capacity. If we support public transit we don't have to spend as much on increasing capacity of roadways... Each bus loaded with rush-hour commuters keeps dozens of cars off the roads during peak-hour traffic. This is a huge benefit to bus opponents, results in shorter commute times... So vote yes for buses and for the thousands of bus riders who rely on public transit...
