Purchases - USA - Miami-Dade OKs $200M for bus expansion
Fort Lauderdale,FL,USA -South Florida Business Journal -25 Apr 2006: -- The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners has approved the largest bus procurement in county history... The $200 million is to allow the county to upgrade its bus system including equipment, maintenance and routes for the county's 2 million residents, as well as bringing service to Monroe and Broward counties... The county said it ultimately could add 600 more buses, bringing its fleet to about 2,000 buses... The winning bidder, Wichita, Kan.-based Optima Bus Corp., beat out Blue-Bird Bus and Daimler-Mercedes Benz...
