The plug-in hybrid diesel-electric and full-electric vehicles will use the latest lithium ion battery technology to provide maximum vehicle range and fuel efficiency. Enova's electric and hybrid drive system solutions include fully integrated on-board or stationary battery charging systems. The Enova drive systems and chargers will be featured in two new Optare transit buses which will debut at the Euro Bus Expo taking place in Birmingham, UK on November 4 through 6 2008... * Canada - Hydrogenics to Provide Two Hydrogen Powered Fuel Cell Buses for European Operation
Mississauga,ONT,CAN -MarketWatch -Nov 04, 2008: -- Hydrogenics Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrogen electrolyzers and fuel cell systems, today announced that it was awarded a contract to deliver two hydrogen powered fuel cell buses to Vestische Strassenbahnen GmbH, a public transit operator in the North Rhine Westphalia region of Germany... The buses are anticipated to be put into service by Vestische in 2009 and provide daily bus service in the German cities of Herten and Bottrop. Once delivered, Hydrogenics will have placed a total of nine hydrogen powered fuel cell buses in Europe including three buses for the HyChain Mini-Trans project. The project is being supported by the German State of North Rhine Westphalia and the European Union through the HyChain Mini-Trans project...
* France - Strasbourg gets new hybrid buses
Strasbourg,Alsatia,France -Autobloggreen, by Xavier Navarro -Nov 5 2008: -- France has become the latest country in Europe to get hybrid buses. The Alsatian capital, Strasbourg, received a hybrid unit from Solaris Bus & Coach company, which will start working next year. An additional unit will be introduced afterwards. The model, called Urbino 18 Hybrid, is claimed to reduce fuel consumption by 23 to 24 percent, as well as reduce emissions: 13 percent less NOx, 25 percent less CO2 and 78 percent fewer particles. Solaris Bus & Coach has high hopes in this project: CEO Solange Olszewska announced that the company hopes to expand use of this models all around Europe...
