Seat Belts * USA - Perry signs measure requiring they on school buses
All school buses will have to be equipped with seat belts that cover the riders' lap and shoulders under a bill Gov. Rick Perry signed into law on Friday
Austin,TX,USA -KRIS/TV (Corpus Christi,TX) -9 June 2007: -- The law applies to buses purchased on or after Sept 1, 2010. Charter buses that are used to transport school children also have to be equipped with seat belts... The legislation was inspired by the deaths of two Beaumont high school students who were killed last year when the chartered bus carrying their soccer team overturned... Five other states also have seat belt requirements for school buses: New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, California and Florida...
