On May 24, the Detroit City Council approved awarding an $11.7-million contract to the sheriff's office to patrol Detroit Department of Transportation buses, whose drivers said were plagued with crime... That day, sheriff's deputies started vehicle patrols along DDOT bus routes, at transit centers and at bus shelters while also responding to calls to DDOT dispatch, said John Roach, spokesman for Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans...
