* Uganda - Nile Coach to buy more buses
Kampala,Uganda -The New Vision, by Herbert Ssempogo -5 June, 2007: -- Nile Coaches, a local transport company, is to boost its fleet with seven new buses valued at sh1.4b., Kevin Mugisha, the spokesman, said each bus would cost sh200m... He told reporters at their Kampala offices that three of the buses assembled in Kenya, were ready... The buses to be unveiled at a grand function, will become part of Nile’s 49 fleet, plying various routes in the country...
* India - 100 A-C buses to augment TN fleet
Chennai, India -Business Standard -June 06, 2007: -- The Tamil Nadu government has placed orders for 100 air-conditioned buses. And, these are expected to hit the road in the next three months... Of these, 50 buses are for the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) and the remaining for other corporations, state transport minister KN Nehru said... The ministry had also placed orders for 300 ultra deluxe buses and 286 low floor buses. These would be delivered within the next six months... Besides, it is planning to procure ten Volvo buses in near future, he said. TNSTC has financially improved and has earned an additional Rs 400 crore this year...
* USA - RTC adds 2 hybrid buses to its fleet this week
Reno,NV,USA -RGJ.com -6 June 2007: -- The Regional Transportation Commission will unveil two new hybrid diesel-electric buses at a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. today at Miguel Ribera Park... The 40-foot buses will operate on Route 1 on Virginia Street from downtown Reno to the Meadowood Mall... The new vehicles were purchased to help reduce emissions, get better fuel economy and reduce noise compared with conventional buses...
* Pakistan - CNG buses, finally

I don't think they are getting rid of old ones, are they?... Let's see if this makes any changes to pullution in Karachi...
* USA - Gov. Sanford Vetoes Bill Allowing State To Buy New Buses
Charleston,SC,USA -WCSC/Live 5 News -8 June 2007: -- Governor Mark Sanford has vetoed a bill that would have allowed the state to buy new school buses... The plan would have replaced the state fleet of buses every 15 years by buying about 375 new buses a year. The new vehicles would cost about $30-million a year...
