Gathering and filtering information from those systems, as to the locations of their passengers may allow a transportation information system to track and display information about route map information and schedule information...

End users can query the vehicle position aggregation system to obtain information about service vehicles in the vicinity of the user’s input location."

* Canada - Transit Trip Planner in Toronto? - Possible expansion of Google’s Transit Trip Planner service to Toronto
Toronto,Ont,CAN -SEO by the SEA, by Angie McKaig - 9 June 2007: -- Presently the service is only available in the Portland, Oregon, area according to the Google Transit FAQ, but that page tells us that they “plan to expand to cities throughout the United States and around the world”... Ms. McKaig noted an article in this morning’s Metro News on the creation of such a service. The article reports that the City was considering creating its own online service with transit information which would have cost more than $2 million. They also note that there are no estimates of a cost involving partnering with Google, nor has a time frame been established if they move forward together... Gary Price wrote back in December that Google has registered the domain names “GoogleTransitplanner.com., .info.,.org. and .net” when writing about the launch of the Portland Transit service...
