Loan - USA - Dade gets hybrid buses on
Miami,FL,USA -The Miami Herald, by LARRY LEBOWITZ -Jul. 20, 2006: -- Miami-Dade Transit today will temporarily introduce two diesel-electric hybrid buses to its fleet as the agency prepares to join the growing number of public transit agencies turning toward more fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly technologies... The buses, a 60-foot articulated model on loan from North American Bus Industries Inc. and a 42-foot New Flyer model on loan from the GM/Allison hybrid engine manufacturer, will be appear over the next 30 days on the South Miami-Dade Busway... Transit plans to purchase 39 of the 60-foot hybrids by 2008 and 180 of the 42-foot models between 2009 and 2012 as part of its routine fleet replacement program, said Harpal Kapoor, transit's deputy director of operations...
