Security - New Zealand - Union wants police or guards on buses
Wellington,New Zealand -Radio New Zealand -9 May 2006: -- The Tramways Employees' Union says it would like to see a police presence or security guard on every bus to keep its drivers safe... The comments followed an attack on a Christchurch bus driver at the weekend by a group of teenagers; who left the driver with possible spinal damage, as well as bruises and cuts... Tramways Employees' Union national secretary, Gary Froggatt, told that increasing security on buses would make people think twice before they attack drivers... Bus & Coach Association executive director, John Collyns, told the programme the idea has merit, but would cost a significant amount of money...
