FORT VALLEY,GA,USA -Macon Telegraph (Macon,GA), by Wayne Crenshaw -Apr. 26, 2006: -- Blue Bird will soon begin working on prototypes for a new full-sized propane-powered school bus to be sold in Texas... The project is a joint effort of Blue Bird, Texas clean-air advocates and the Texas Railroad Commission, which regulates fuel in the state... While there are smaller buses that run on propane and others fueled by natural gas, Jay McDuffie, advertising, communications and training manager, said Blue Bird would be the only builder of full-sized school buses powered by propane... "We don't know exactly the market, but with the samples we are taking, we are probably starting with 500 to 1,000 buses," McDuffie said. Work on two prototypes will begin in May, he said...
