Purchases - USA - Chicago buying 20 new diesel-electric hybrid buses
CHICAGO,Ill,USA -kwqc TV6 -9 Nov 2005: -- Twenty new diesel-electric hybrid buses should be on the streets of Chicago next year... The Chicago Transit Authority announced yesterday that it's buying the buses in an effort to reduce fuel costs. The hybrids will cost about 530-thousand dollars each... That's compared with 341-thousand for a conventional bus... The city is spending a total of 95 (m) million dollars on 265 new buses to replace ones bought in 1991...
