Hybrid - UK - Future tram-bus arrives in city
Scotland, UK -Scotsman, by JANE BRADLEY -17 Nov 2005: -- A hybrid tram-bus which is being touted as a solution to Edinburgh's transport problems went on display in the city today... The world's first "ftr" is being billed by operator First Bus as the future of public travel and was set to go on display at Waterloo Place today to allow council officials to inspect it... The ftr, named after the texting shorthand for "future", bends in the middle like a tram, but is run on rubber tyres... First hopes the transport, complete with real-time travel information screens, a lounge area and greater personal space than on buses will entice car drivers out of their vehicles and on to public transport...
