Future - Canada - Holds big changes for transit riders

Mississauga,Ontario,Canada -THE MISSISSAUGA NEWS, by Joseph Chin -Nov 16, 2005: -- In the future, transit users will zip along... Hurontario St. on a light rail system... They will catch a bus at a second City Centre terminal... Meanwhile, hybrid buses will never have to stop because they can control traffic signals... And, the City will pay to build a new drop-off at the Kipling subway station so Mississauga Transit riders can hook up with the TTC... These projects are all in Mississauga Transit's wish list that was presented recently to the budget committee. But, they're all far down the road... What's around the corner for 2006 is spending $31.3 million to buy eight additional buses and replace 57 aging ones... Mississauga Transit will soon hire a consultant to help draft a ridership growth plan. It's also conducting a Hurontario corridor study...
