* UK - Firms not using green buses may face rise in charges
Glasgow,Scotland,UK -The Herald, by GERRY BRAIDEN -December 05 2007: -- Transport firms that fail to invest in greener vehicles may be charged more for the use of bus stations... Scotland's largest regional transport authority has raised the prospect of an environmental levy during a conference on bettering bus services, attended by Scottish Government representatives, MSPs, major public transport operators and passenger groups... Describing buses as the workhorse of the public transport network, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport also announced an audit of existing service provision in the west of Scotland to determine overall provision, standards and identify gaps in services... Bus services currently account for 78% of the public transport journeys in the Strathclyde region...
