New Seatbelt Law * Peru - For Bus Transportation System

Lima,Peru -Living in Peru -9 October, 2007 : -- After a wave of bus accidents hit Peru over the past few months, the Ministry of Transportation (MTC) has attempted to be stricter with its laws and more constant upon enforcing them... The majority of the bus accidents which accounted for dozens of lives in the past months have been on buses traveling across the different provinces in Peru... Peru's Ministry of Transportation announced that checkpoints would be set up across the country to ensure the traveler's safety. These periodic checks were a part of the Ministry's new "Zero Tolerance" program, in which authorities are attempting to improve the country's inter-province bus service and reduce the number of highway casualties... It was reported that any bus which did not meet this requirement would be stopped and not permitted to transport passengers...
