Thumbs up for buses * Malaysia - More can be done
Barrier,Malaysia -The Malaysia Star (Petaling Jaya, MAL), by SUSAN TAM -May 14, 2007: -- Free Environment and Accessible Transport Group (BEAT) members are suggesting several changes to improve the 100 newly modified RapidKL buses... The buses, which were modified for easier accessibility for individuals with mobility issues, were introduced earlier this month to improve public transport accessibility for all Malaysians... BEAT co-ordinator Christine Lee said the group was grateful for the speedy installation of these buses but were keen to highlight some suggestions after a test ride in late April... She said the current gradient of the ramps on the buses was steep and could be dangerous for wheelchair-bound passengers... (Good move: The ramp is a good idea but BEAT feels the gradient is still too steep.)
