Metro has hired an industrial safety contractor to reduce the number of work related injuries and bus and rail accidents by half

The move comes after fatal accidents involving both buses and trains in recent months. When General Manager John Catoe took over in January, he promised to hire a firm to assess agency safety and train workers. Catoe put in place a similar safety program as the Number Two official at the Los Angeles transit agency. Officials there say employee injuries dropped 61 percent in six years, and workers' compensation claims fell by more than half...
