COMPLAINTS * India - Volvo clients protest at Mumbai bus expo
Mumbai,India -The Hindustan Times, by Rajendra Aklekar -Feb 1, 2007: -- Major bus operators in Mumbai who have bought the world class Volvo buses found 'busworld', the second international exhibition on bus industry held at Goregaon, as a perfect venue to lodge a protest against the company. Following the 'satyagraha' protest, Volvo India Private Limited has called a meeting to discuss the issue on February 15... "There are various problems in these expensive buses that we bought. We had to take the buses off the road and bear losses in our business. During the monsoon, there was a leakage problem in the bus, so much that we had to provide umbrellas to our passengers," the five-page petition submitted by Volvo bus operators to the company states... Another problem is that the door's lock and handles used in a particular model of a bus had problems, so much so that the door opened suddenly and there was an accident recently... "More than 50 bus operators sat in protest today. The problem is with Mark 1 and Mark 2 buses. Each bus costs Rs 62 lakh and we bought the buses for their name and quality. We conduct business worth crores of rupees and do not expect such treatment from a professional organisation," Harsh Kotak, general secretary Maharashtra Rajya Truck, Tempo Tankers, Bus Vahatuk Mahasangh told...
