Residents fight buses axe with community service
Leeds,Yorkshire,UK -The Yorkshire Post Today, by Paul Whitehouse -11 Oct 2006: -- A community is fighting back against the decision to axe their bus service – by setting up their own alternative... It argued the buses were little used and frequently failed to cover operating costs and also said there was potential to use the vehicles and drivers more effectively elsewhere... But the decision left many elderly residents struggling to cope with walking the hilly terrain in the area previously served by the bus and residents decided to launch their own service...
