Drivers' Shortage - USA - A staggering idea for buses
JAMES CITY,VA,USA -The Virginia Gazette (Williamsburg,VA), by Sharon Schiff -1 Oct 2006: -- The chronic shortage of school bus drivers has inspired an old idea. WJC Schools Superintendent Gary Mathews is considering adjusting the start times for all 12 regular schools so bus drivers can cover three routes instead of two... Right now the start times for both high schools and all three middle schools are 7:40 a.m., while elementary schools start 90 minutes later. If the start time for middle schools were to change, it might give drivers a chance to pick up routes at each of the elementary, middle and high school levels...
