London,UK -This is Local London, by Martina Smit -14 June 2006: -- Bus passengers on London's red routes are waiting a minute less for their rides due to strict traffic enforcement, Transport for London has said... About 300,000 tickets a year are issued on the 580km red route network, which carries more than a third of the capital's traffic... More than 3,000 cameras monitor traffic offences on the red routes, including CCTV cameras at 2,272 restricted parking zones. Almost 500 cameras mounted on buses can film cars in bus lanes as far as 400 metres ahead... Journey times in bus lanes are 13% faster compared to non-bus lanes, a new report shows. Average passenger waiting times have been cut from 6min 45sec to 5min 45sec, worth a saving of £25 million a year...
