Survey says area districts rely on transit companies
Boston,USA -The Boston Globe, by Brenda J. Buote & Richard Thompson -June 11, 2006: -- Local educators say they do all they can to ensure student safety. They lock school doors. They require visitors to show identification. Some even have installed surveillance cameras on school grounds... But a survey by Globe North has found that most local school systems rely on outside transportation companies to conduct criminal history checks on the drivers they employ -- and several acknowledge that they do not review the results... In Lynnfield, officials said last week that they would require their contractor to provide the town copies of every driver's criminal record report, and vowed to follow up on those reports...
