Money cannot be used to retrofit vehicles to make engine burn cleaner

Heather Duncan -12 May 2006: -- The Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition learned Thursday it can't use a $4.5 million Congressional appropriation to overhaul old school buses as planned... The project was intended to retrofit buses with equipment to make the engines burn cleaner, reducing Middle Georgia air pollution... Bibb County and a portion of Monroe County are in a federal "non-attainment zone" for having unhealthy levels of ozone, the primary component of smog, and for fine particle pollution like soot...
