Pollution out - UK - Plan to ban ageing buses can clear city air
Cambridge,UK -Cambridge Evening News- 01 Nov 2005: -- Plans are being made to get rid of old buses in Cambridge city centre to help beat pollution... Cambridgeshire County Council is working on an idea to remove buses which are eight years old or more, unless they are equipped with environmentally-friendly engines... Members of the Cambridge Area Joint Committee have agreed to the plan which would see the council strike up a partnership with bus operators to improve the city's transport and environment... If the plan is introduced, the old buses would be banned from the city centre from 2007. All buses would also have to have wheelchair access...
