LIGHT VIOLATIONS * USA - Cameras See Buses Violate Traffic Laws
Port Authority Doesn't Review Video Without Complaint
Pittsburgh,OH,USA -WTAE/TV/Team 4 -February 15, 2011: ... An investigation showed Port Authority buses violating traffic laws in Pittsburgh, WTAE's cameras caught it on tape again... City Police Chief, Nate Harper, watched the video and told that the Pittsburgh Police Bureau is doing everything it can with limited manpower to enforce traffic laws downtown... Harper suggested asking the Port Authority if it is monitoring the video cameras on its buses to see if drivers are obeying traffic laws, but Parsons reported that unless a complaint is received, the Port Authority is not looking at video... Most of the Port Authority's 900 buses have cameras on them. The agency said it doesn't look at video unless it's alerted to an issue that needs to be investigated... Putting cameras in Pittsburgh traffic lights would require a change in state law, and the Legislature has opposed it so far... The Port Authority said it doesn't have the manpower to randomly audit the video that's recorded by on-bus cameras...
