Buses Will Get 5 Extra Miles Per Gallon

Independence,KY,USA -WLWT/News -October 15, 2010:  --  Kenton County schools unveiled two new hybrid electric school buses... The district hopes the buses will help save money on fuel... Kenton County is one of 22 school districts awarded a share of $13 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The district received $150,000 to purchase the buses... Kentucky has the largest fleet of hybrid electric buses in the country, with 213... In addition to helping the environment, the hybrid electric buses also provide a learning opportunity for students... "The new technology will also provide learning opportunities for students on real-world issues like fuel consumption, air quality and transportation costs," said Commissioner Terry Holliday, with the Kentucky Department of Education...
