"Unsatisfactory" Buses * USA - Modesto School Buses Get that Ranking From CHP
The California Highway Patrol has issued an "unsatisfactory" rating to Modesto City School buses
Modesto,CAL,USA -FOX40 News, by Andria Borba -March 24, 2010: ... The problems were first noticed during a routine inspection this winter, when 6 of 29 buses inspected were cited. C.H.P. bus inspector Gary Buswell sayso the problems were pervasive, " Air leaks in the brake system, brakes that were out of adjustment, we had tires that were low n air pressure"... Prior to the "unsatisfactory", Modesto City School buses had passed inspection without a problem for 14 straight years. Lawrence says the bus maintenance department has gotten a tune up to make sure the buses don't fail again... The fleet of 64 buses is aging, with some buses over 20-years-old. Last month, the school board allotted $900,000 a year to start replacing the fleet. The buses will be put to the C.H.P. test again, the next inspection is scheduled for April...
