NEW BUSES * UK - Arriva promises Skelmersdale a new fleet of buses by the end of the year

Skelmersdale,Lancashire,UK -The Skelmersdale Advertiser, by Nick Moreto -Jul 9 2009: -- Bus company Arriva has confirmed it is looking to bring new vehicles to the town’s depot towards the end of 2009... It has also promised to run more low-floor vehicles following complaints that disabled users are not getting a fair service... Skelmersdale has for years been saddled with cast-offs from other areas and there was outrage earlier this year when 10 second hand buses arrived from Wirral, with Birkenhead receiving a brand new fleet of double deckers... And we revealed in May how wheelchair users were unable to use the buses from Wirral, highlighting the shocking case of 18-year-old Victoria Young, who was stranded in Wigan for three hours waiting for a bus with wheelchair access and eventually had to pay £17 for a taxi back home...
