Austin police cracking down on aggressive driving with buses

Austin,TX,USA -CBS 42, by Stephanie Serna -29 June 2009: -- In addition to the cracking down on drunk drivers this holiday weekend. Austin police will also be cracking down on aggressive drivers under the TACT program or Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks... That means police will be looking out for drivers who break the law by not using their turn signals, tailgating, speeding and cutting people off. Police will be out on the roadways, not in a patrol car, but inside of a Capital Metro bus... Austin Police officers use a team of two on these buses. One officer drives, while the other will use the radio to alert four to six other officers in patrol cars about the aggressive driving they can see on the bus... Officers tried the system last week and made about 20 stops from calls they got from the patrolling sergeant on the bus...
