START recently purchased two clean diesel electric propulsion hybrid buses... These buses will reduce emissions and will provide an estimated 35% reduction in fuel costs... Beaumont,OH,USA -KFDM6, by Scott Lawrence -June 29, 2009: -- The City of Beaumont is placing new compressed natural gas transit buses into service Wednesday and it's offering free fares to call attention to the environmentally friendly vehicles... William Munson, General Manager of Beaumont Municipal Transit, says the city will place 12 buses into service and three additional buses will be placed in reserve... The buses were paid for by a $6.2 million grant from the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission... The 35 foot long, low floor buses will be fully accessible to the disabled with front door ramps...Labels: new buses fleet
