Sydney,NSW,Australia -The Daily Telegraph, by Rhys Haynes -January 13, 2009: -- Just days after making the Harbour Bridge cashless, the State Government is stamping out the use of coins on Sydney buses... From March, commuters using buses in the CBD will no longer be able to use cash, instead being forced to buy tickets before boarding... The system is being fast-tracked after the Government's tender documents for a transport smartcard revealed the new technology would take at least five years to implement... Transport Minister David Campbell said going cashless would help clear the peak-hour gridlock around Wynyard where more than 50 bus routes operate on or around York St. ...
