BUSES CHECKUPS * USA - Columbus school buses fail checkups
Columbus, OH,USA -The Columbus Dispatch, by SIMONE SEBASTIAN -January 1, 2009: -- Nearly two dozen school buses owned by a contractor for Columbus City Schools have failed recent state inspections, spurring the school district to haul in the entire fleet for examination this week... Of W.C. Brunk's 52 buses, 22 have been taken out of service because of structural and safety violations, said Larry Hoskins, the district's chief operating officer. He said the failures will not affect students returning to school Monday, but if the company doesn't fix the problems promptly, they could threaten its contract... The 53,000-student district owns nearly 550 buses, making it one of the largest fleets in the state...
