The Chronicle has investigated bus prices in four other towns, as well as London, and found Reading is roughly average for an all-day ticket or equivalent, but an expensive place for single journeys and child tickets... The pricing structure for single tickets in Reading means that even very short journeys cost the full £1.70, while in the other towns and cities analysed – Wolverhampton, Brighton, Rotherham and Aberdeen – a zoning system means shorter journeys can cost as little as 70p...
