* Australia - Sydney will get 300 extra buses: govt
Sydney,Australia -The Age -November 4, 2008: -- The NSW government's promise to deliver 300 extra buses from next year is on track following assurances from manufacturers, Transport Minister David Campbell says... The state's only bus manufacturer, Custom Coaches, says no orders have been placed for the buses, 100 of which were planned for north-west Sydney... But Mr Campbell said the government had already received assurances from several providers who could meet the government's target... Last Friday, Mr Campbell announced the $150 million purchase of 300 new buses over three years...
* India - Haryana Roadways to purchase 1,000 buses
Bombay,India -The Financial Express -Nov 01, 2008: -- To augment and modernise the existing fleet of buses, Haryana Roadways has decided to purchase 1,000 new buses by the end of 11th Five Year Plan. The new buses will include Volvo, AC buses, CNG buses, Haryana Gaurav and semi low floor buses... During the 11th Five Year Plan, special emphasis has been laid towards introduction of city bus services in major cities like Gurgaon, Faridabad and as well as in the district headquarters town, Haryana transport minister Mange Ram Gupta said...
* USA - City gets funds to buy bus
Danville,IL,USA -The Danville Commercial News -October 31, 2008: -- The city has received federal funds toward the purchase of a new Danville Mass Transit bus... Danville Mass Transit Director Dick Brazda said the funding, possibly paired with more funding next year, will be used to replace a city bus... A new bus costs about $320,000... The city received enough federal funding to purchase a new bus through this program in 2006 and 2007, he said...
* India - ViTCOS shift gear to get Tata-tag to Vadodara
Vadodara,India -The Indian Express News Service (New Delhi,India) -Nov 02, 2008: -- Plans to bring in 10 to 15 double-decker buses from Lucknow-based Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd.... After starting the new city bus service, the Vallabhipur Transportation Cooperative Society Pvt Ltd (ViTCOS) is all set to carry the Tata-tag to Vadodara. With its recent plans of broadening the bus service, ViTCOS might bring in double-decker buses from Lucknow-based Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd.... The agency recently submitted a memorandum to the city Collector and Municipal Commissioner, seeking permission to bring in the new buses...
