* Australia - New, improved system for Metro buses
Hobart,Tasmania,Australia -ABC Online -Dec 5, 2007: -- Metro is expected to begin phasing-in its new ticketing system in Tasmania by late next year... The new state-of-the-art smart-card ticketing system, will among other things, tell patrons when the next bus is due and link with traffic signals to give buses priority... Metro chief executive, Tony Sim, says the change will allow the company to introduce a range of new products and to more effectively monitor the on-time reliability of its services... A German company has been selected as the preferred tenderer for the project...
