PASSENGERS' TRANSPORT SYSTEM * Singapore
Singapore has good network of roads linking various parts of the country. The fantastic public transport is efficient and reliable
Singapore -Doreen Lee -26 Sept 2007: -- ... The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) systems have also helped to ease road congestion. The LRT system operating above the ground, is connected to the public bus system for inter-regional travel and also linked to the MRT system. While the LRT serves new towns, the MRT connects one town to another... An ez-link card from any MRT station allows you to travel by train and bus. What you need to do is just swipe the card over sensors as you enter and leave a station or bus. A card costs S$15 in which S$7 worth of travel, a S$5 nonrefundable charge and S$3 refundable deposit redeemable when you return the card. This card can be topped-up at ATM-style machine or at ticketing counters at any stations... (Photo by transport_hk.tripod.com)
