* 1,000 “good quality” buses for Delhi soon
New Delhi,India -The Hindu -2 Set 2007: -- Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said that in order to provide a safe, convenient and modern public transport bus system the Delhi Government is planning to introduce 1,000 good quality private buses through participation of the corporate sector and cooperatives. This move, she said, would also reduce the increasing burden on the Delhi Transport Corporation...
* New helpline for women passengers - New training programme for DTC drivers, conductors
New Delhi, India -The Hindu -3 Sept 2007: -- Women in Delhi will now be able to travel in greater comfort and safety in Delhi Transport Corporation buses thanks to a new helpline service launched for them by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday... The DTC has also started a training programme to sensitise its bus drivers and conductors for making them more courteous while talking to passengers, particularly women, aged and the physically challenged... She said the new training programme would make the drivers and conductors better versed with the needs of the passengers...
