Study * Malaysia - On Bus and Taxi Fares

Putrajaya,Malaysia -The Malaysia Star -August 30, 2007: -- Express bus and taxi operators may have their fares revised after the Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Ministry put in a proposal for a study on the matter... Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the study – to be carried out by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) – would, among others, see the further tightening of regulations in the awarding of express bus and taxi permits to operators, the profiling of drivers and the possible implementation of a global positioning system (GPS) for buses and electronic ticketing to overcome touting... Khaled said that in future, the awarding of permits to bus operators would take into consideration management aspects like drivers’ training courses and the controlling of their fleet besides the size of the starting capital...
