Tehran,Iran -PRESS TV -3 Sep 2007: -- Iran plans to start exporting buses to Russia by the end of current Iranian calendar year, Reza Asem-Nakhjavani, Managing Director of Iran Khodro Diesel says. "Russia needs to purchase 3500 buses annually for its public transit system to remain operational"... Iran Khodro Diesel started marketing its products to members of the Commonwealth of Independent States including Armenia and Azerbaijan in the previous Iranian calendar year. * Germany - China and India key to Mercedes-Benz bus sales
Stuttgart,Germany -Earth Times (USA) -5 Sept 2007: -- Sales in China and India are key to the future of Mercedes-Benz buses, said Harald Landmann, chief of DaimlerChrysler Buses, in remarks Tuesday in the German city of Stuttgart. He said that sales this year would, at best, match the 36,000 bus and chassis shipped last year by the brand, the world's biggest with an estimated market share of 16 per cent. First-half sales had been 18,600 vehicles... The bus market in Western Europe was stagnant, but the prospects were better in eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia. In the next decade, three-quarters of sales growth would be scored in China and India...
* India - Jalandhar coach builder to make Mercedes buses
New Delhi,India -The New Delhi News.Net -4 September, 2007: -- A company that was started to make bullock carts way back in 1935 has tied up with global automobile giant DaimlerChrysler to manufacture Mercedes-Benz buses... The contract between DaimlerChrysler and the Jalandhar based Sutlej Motors Limited (SML) was announced Tuesday in the German city of Stuttgart... SML has created a pan-India niche market for itself in manufacturing buses with latest, modern designs and sophisticated interiors... DaimlerChrysler is the world's biggest bus manufacturer and already makes chassis in India at its subsidiary DaimlerChrysler India Private Ltd (DCIL)...
