Antwerp, Belgium -Gas News/the GasTips.com (USA), by Splash-n-Dash -August 8, 2007: -- A consortium of companies have come together to put hydrogen hybrid buses on two routes in the city of Antwerp, Belgium. That’s one more step forward for viable hydrogen cars, and one step back from the perils of peak oil... The main distinction between this hybrid bus and conventional fuel cell buses is that any excess electrical energy generated by the hydrogen fuel cell in the hybrid bus can be stored in batteries - meaning it can run on less fuel than those running solely on hydrogen... Backers of the project include the Flemish government, UTC Power - which supplied the fuel cell - Siemens, IWT-Vlaanderen, Air Liquide and De Lijn...
