* Ireland - New measures to introduce bio-fuel to State-owned buses
Cork,Ireland -The Irish Examiner -17 Feb 2007: -- Taoiseach Bertie Ahern today claimed that he is to introduce new measures for State-owned public transport in an effort to cut carbon emissions... Mr Ahern said the existing Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus fleet will have to switch to a 5% bio-fuel blend... The transport companies will have to plan for all new vehicles to use 30% bio-fuel in their engines...
* USA - UVM Rolls Out Green Buses
Burlington,Vermont,USA -WCAX (Burlington,VT) -Feb 16, 2007: -- Six new buses will be hitting the streets of Burlington soon, but these aren't you're average diesel burning buses. These buses burn compressed natural gas... The six compressed natural gas busses were paid for by $2.4 million grant from the federal government, and about $500,000 from the University of Vermont. The goal of the project is not necessarily save money, but to cut down on emissions...
* USA - Bright green buses may hit roads next month
Dickson,TN,USA -The Dickson Herald -18 Feb 2007: -- The new Murfreesboro bus system, with its bright green buses, was set to start in early spring, hoping the loud color would attract city residents who might otherwise drive... Nine buses had been ordered, costing $70,000 each, but routes and fare were still being determined...
