* Canada - Gatineau to get Quebec's first ones
Gatineau,Quebec, CAN -CBC News -Feb 16, 2007: -- Transit users in Gatineau will be the first in Quebec to try out hybrid diesel-electric buses, Gatineau's public transit company says... The Société de transport de l'Outaouais announced Thursday that two of the buses, which run on a combination of electric battery power and diesel fuel, will begin carrying transit riders in a matter of weeks as part of a two-year, $8.3-million pilot project funded by all three levels of government...

* Canada - City hits the road with 29 new diesel hybrid buses
Ancaster,Ontario,Canada -Ancaster News, by Mike Pearson -Feb 16, 2007: -- Politicians recently unveiled the single largest fleet expansion in the history of the HSR with the addition of 29 new eco-friendly buses... Funded by the federal and provincial government gas tax rebate, the acquisition includes 22 conventional 40-foot buses, plus seven 60-foot articulated buses, also known as accordion buses. All 29 units run on hybrid diesel engines. The first five buses arrived at City Hall recently and are now in service... The new 40-foot diesel buses offer an 80 per cent reduction in emissions compared to the buses they are replacing. The HSR will be the first transit service in Ontario to use the 60-foot hybrid units...
